The Mercedes-Benz 500E (W124) is regarded by many enthusiasts and scholars the most perfect sedan ever conceived and run on series production. For some, there was a trim level that could bring this engineering perfection to a whole new level when sent to prominent German tuners, such as AMG in Affalterbach or Brabus in Bottorp.
The fine tuning done by AMG, paired with a displacement increase from 5 to 6 liters, made the 500E the ultimate performance sedan, following the legendary heritage of the 124 Hammer. The M119 engine with an increase to 6 liters by AMG and 384 Horsepower.
According to the AMG Conversion Certificate of Authenticity, Upon factory delivery at Mercedes-Benz in February of 1993, this Blauschwarz (199U) car was delivered immediately to AMG in Affalterbach where after 6 weeks was delivered again in March of the same year with:
- AMG 6.0 liter M119 engine upgrade,
- AMG Exhaust
- AMG 300 km/h speedometer and
- AMG 3-piece wheels
Subsequently this car was exported to Japan where it spent its life until 2021 when it was exported to the US.
During its tenure in Japan, this car was fitted with 18-inch J Auto Aero 3-piece wheels for a more muscular look. Service records are present and while in the US, the car received a cooling system check inhouse up with a new thermostat, fan clutch, flush and belt.
Odometer shows around 133K kilometers (~83k miles) which is consistent with the registration records upon exportation from Japan.
In 2024 this car was inspected and verified by AMG Classic and MKB Motorenbau for its Conversion Confirmation Certificate which accompanies the car together with the owner’s manual set, records and the clean Florida title and two keys.
