Aarrgghh!!

Less than 30 minutes away from where I grew up. And now I'm nearly 1500 miles away...

Mom, no... I just came home for a surprise visit......

Great find. Be interesting to see where this places in the market. Only a handful of them. The three (coupe, sedan, wagon) low mileage examples auctioned by a CA owner sold for approx $30K-35K.

It's said to have Been delivered with an OE speedo, test fitted later temporarily with a 190mph unit and then ended up with the POS white set of decals.

Q&A from the seller's eBay auction:

Q: I would be interested in the fact that the exhaust rusted out within 20k miles and the rest the car is unscathed. Aug-19-12
A: The OEM exhaust was not stainless. For it to last 26 years is remarkable and shows the commitment to proper storage and care of the car.
Q: So no service records? Why does it have an aftermarket gauage cluster? What is the original exhaust? Does this car have any rust? Aug-19-12
A: The car has service records. I added the white AMG gauges because original Tachnometer needed replacing. I have the old cluster. Original exhaust finally rusted out and was unusable. Smartest replacement was hand crafted professional stainless exhaust, which had an infinite life. AMG parts no longer available. No rust whatsoever, stored inside its entire life, Never driven except sunny warm days.
Q: do you have any documentation with the car? Aug-18-12
A: Only documentation I have is what came with car when I purchased in 2000. Original AMG option booklets showing what is on the car.
Q: Hello, There were two different displacement Hammer engines, a 5.6L and 6.0L. Do you have any documentation proving that this car has the 6.0L engine? The stroke can be measured via a spark plug hole if there is no documentation. Any information would be appreciated. Thanks! Aug-18-12
A: I tried with no success to find the vehicle's original AMG sale slip. I do have the original AMG option booklets which show the actual choices selected from AMG. Always been advised this super rare version has the 6.0L Thanks for interest. Wishing this car goes to a place others can see...it's super nice piece of automotive history.

One of the pics in the eBay ad shows rust underneath on the chassis. Nice car still, I love those Recaro's!

Yes, very nice example of a Hammer regardless.

Which photo are you referencing in the auction? The rust in this pict appears to be the rack:

Thought this recently added tidbit from the seller was interesting --

"Thank you for all the interest everyone for this wonderful super rare AMG Hammer.
Because this car is so unique and there are very few if any certified integral original AMG mechanics to certify,
I am having the car's engine displacement and overall condition recorded this Wednesday, by my
best European mechanic. I will post results. There is NO RUST on this car what so ever.
It is 26 years old and shows like nobody has sat in the seats, there is your indication of the
condition of the car.

Please only make your decisions based upon what I have posted, or by offering to have the car inspected,
not by a bitter mechanic in GA.

It is my commitment that the next owner is very satisfied with their investment."

Proof is in the pudding...

Though, looks like its had some work done to remove the surface rust previously indicated in earlier photos. A drill with a wire bit does wonders!

Note the rusty screws for the lower skirt in the new open door photos on the ebay auction.

What's the reserve? Current asking $135k down from his original asking of $255K.

Stumbled on this:
